The evolution and salient features of Bengal School of Art

Bengal School of Art brought changes in modern Indian painting with the encouragement in the beginning of the revival style. Evolution: During Indian nationalist movement, especially after the partition of Bengal in 1905, painting became a subject matter. It was served as a counter to the Western styles taught in the art colleges of the time, revived and modernised from the old Mughal, Rajasthani and Ajanta styles. In 1906, the year after the partition, the iconic painting of “Bharat Mata” , was the gentle yet vulnerable and subjugated figure became a symbol of the nationalist movement. BHIMBETAKA CAVES

·          The site is located   in the Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh, India ·          It was discovered in 1958 by V.S. Wakanker, as the biggest prehistoric art depository   in India .  It is an archaeological site of the Paleolithic age showing the earliest traces of human life.  ·          Top of the hill there is a large number of rock-shelters which have been discovered of with more than 130 contain paintings. ·          Excavations revealed history of continuous habitation from early stone age (about 10000 years) to the end of stone age (c. 10,000 to 2,000 years).The Caves of Bhimbetka exhibits the rock paintings of Stone age period.It is a world heritage site since 2003. UNESCO has declared Bhimbetka rock shelters as world heritage site.

Murshidabad is one of the district of West Bengal State.The Location of the Murshidabd District has a historical relevance over time and again. Murshidabad is located beside river Bhagirathi.It was the last capital city of Independent Bengal and had a relevance over time as colonial of British and Mughals.There were different historical structure built during the British rule and also at the time of Mughal rules. The most important structure if we can indifferently derive at it shall be the Hazarduari Palace in Murshidabad District.   The Palace was built in 1837 by Duncan Mcleod for Nawab Najim Humaun Jah who was the descendant of the Mir Jafar. The Palace has spread  over  a massive area of 41 acre. A Puppet dance is a form of theatre or performance of operation of puppet. The process of animating inanimate performing objects through puppets. It is used in form of both as entertainment -in- performance and ceremonially in rituals and celebrations such as carnivals. The art has Originated in india since 4000 years ago .The main theme of this art where the main character in Sanskrit plays was known as " Sutradhara" ," the holder of Strings". Its stories mainly based of puranic literature , local myths and legends. There are four types of Puppet dance in India: 1) String Puppet, 2) Shadow puppet, 3) Glove puppet, 4) Rod Puppet.
